Daikin Completes First R-22 Conversion to R-407H of a U.S. Supermarket

Orangeburg, N.Y. — Daikin America has partnered with TOPS Friendly Markets LLC to complete the first refrigeration conversion of a U.S. supermarket from R-22 to Creard R-407H. At the TOPS store in Alden, N.Y., 1,200 lbs. of Creard R-407H has been used to provide more than 25 cooling tons in medium-temperature refrigerated cases and displays. It has replaced R-22.

Build-A-Bear Workshop® Plans Seasonal Pop-Ups and New Permanent Stores

Claire's Stores, Inc. Emerges from Chapter 11

Hoffman Estates, Ill. — Claire's Stores, Inc. has successfully completed its financial restructuring and emerged from Chapter 11 as the company's court-confirmed plan of reorganization went into effect on October 12, 2018. With support from its creditors and stakeholders, the company has eliminated approximately $1.9 billion of debt from its balance sheet and gained access to $575 million in new capital.

Sears Holdings Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy; CEO Steps Down

Hoffman Estates, Ill. — On October 15, 2018, Sears Holdings Corporation and certain of its subsidiaries have filed voluntary petitions for Chapter 11 bankruptcy relief. Effective immediately, the company’s chairman and CEO, Edward S. Lampert, is stepping down from the CEO role. Also, the company will close 142 stores in addition to the previously announced 46 store closings.

Ross Stores Opens 40 New Locations

Dublin, Calif. — Ross Stores opened 30 Ross Dress for Less® and 10 dd's DISCOUNTS® stores across 19 different states in September and October. These new locations complete the company's store growth plans for fiscal 2018 with the addition of 99 new stores.
