IKEA To Relocate L.A.-Area Store in February

Burbank, Calif. — IKEA’s relocated Los Angeles-area store within Burbank will open on February 8, 2017. Prior to the grand opening of the new, larger IKEA Burbank, customers can continue to shop at the original Burbank store through February 4, when the old store will close permanently.

The future 456,000-square-foot new IKEA Burbank store, including 1,700 parking spaces, is being built on 22 acres west of San Fernando Boulevard and south of Providencia Avenue — less than 1 mile from the company’s oldest store in the Western United States. (The current 242,000-square-foot IKEA Burbank, the first IKEA store in California and sixth in the U.S., opened in November 1990 on 6.4 acres along I-5 at San Fernando Boulevard.)

“We are thrilled by the excellent construction progress and are confident we can complete the remaining milestones and interior buildup by early February,” says Jeff O’Shaughnessy, store manager.

IKEA is installing a solar array atop the new store, complementing its current U.S. renewable energy presence of solar at nearly 90% of its U.S. locations, and six electric vehicle charging stations.

IKEA was founded in Sweden in 1943. There are currently more than 390 IKEA stores in 48 countries, including 43 in the U.S. For more information, visit IKEA-USA.com.
